WOW IS ALL ANYONE CAN REALLY SAY ABOUT THIS.
To tell the story of Krink, the world’s quickest growing art supply line, you need to hear the story of KR: a terrible art student, a semi-successful vandal, and an entrepreneur who learned everything the hard way.
KR grew up in Queens in the ‘80s surrounded by graffiti writers, skaters, punks and B-boys. Graf was a part of the attitude as much as it was the landscape. Everything was very DIY: steal paint, illegal spots, make markers, emphasize your style, experiment with multiple tools and methods. A lot of it was also based in economy (or lack thereof): sharing and stealing were simply a necessary part of the creative process.
In the late ‘80s, graf on trains died and the art spilled out onto the streets and highways. Writers became more mobile and so styles and tools changed accordingly. Homemade markers that had been the norm were too messy to carry and homemade inks faded in the sun. Pilot-brand silver paint markers became the tool of the trade yet in many ways couldn’t meet this new generation of artist’s very specific needs.
In the early ‘90s KR moved to San Francisco. The scene he found there was thriving, yet different. Most writing took place in parking lots and specified spots. He arrived with a whole different attitude regarding materials and styles. Ignoring designated areas, he used the streets of SF as his very own research and development lab, experimenting with a lot of different tools and techniques to create bigger, drippy marker tags. He also began making his own inks, allowing him to get up bigger, bolder and, now armed with an endless supply of ink, much, much more.
From these trials and errors, KR’s ink, or Krink, was created. He shared his concoction with a few friends and soon it’s silver markings dominated the city.
In 1998 KR returned to NY and brought Krink back with him. Before long, it’s signature style was covering the streets of NY as well. This was around the same time writers began realizing they didn’t need to trade in their lifestyle in order to make a living. The Alife store had just opened and was quickly becoming a Mecca for street art. They told KR that if he would bottle and sell Krink, people would buy it and they offered to help: it was more of a creative project than a business plan, something to work on collaboratively. It sold and people liked it and it just kept growing from there.
Fast-forward to today and Krink products are shipping daily from a headquarters in Brooklyn to everywhere from CA to Moscow to Bangkok. The product line has grown to offer a number of different markers and inks that are unique to the market in their style, history and quality. And when the collaboration feels right, Krink continues to create limited-edition products with like-minded companies like Nike, Incase and Kid Robot. The trademark paint drip aesthetic has found its way into art and design becoming a standard for street-inspired artists on a global level.
It’s been 15 years and what started as a product created to fit the specific needs of graffiti writers has grown into a product line with a range of creative tools for creative thinkers. Watch closely over the next 15 as Krink continues to build its name as the premier art supply line for a new generation of artists.

New single off Mojo’s Fusion mixtape coming this summer!
Mojo - Round N Round ft Roger & N.O.I

Picked up the new album “Distant Relatives” early. Two legends in their own craft coming together to make a powerful statement. This is not a rap album, or a raggae album, this is food for the soul type music. I read through the grape-vine in 2009 about the collaborative, I kept my fingers crossed that it wasn’t a typo. I was earnest to hear how these two world’s will mesh. The most obvious factor is that their from different backgrounds, they sit in different genre’s. Nas rapping out of Queens NY, is a concrete story teller; a veteran in his craft, skillfully mixing both prose and cons in his delivery. And you have in the other hand, Damian Marley, Mr. Junior Gong, son of the prophet Robert Marley, a voice in the wilderness declaring one love, one planet, and freedom for all nations.
The album super exceeded my expectation. What can you expect but greatness from the guy who welcomed us to Jamrock and the guy who gave us the NY state of mind. In 2005 collectively pointing us to the “Road to Zion”, and now reminding us that were all but “Distant Relatives”. It’s stocked and loaded with 13 rounds of fire. You pop this into your computer and it takes you around the world from Queens to Kingston. I’m just getting back from my trip I’m giving the experience my two thumbs. Their unique individual crafts work well together, at no time did you feel one artist did another unjustly by casting a shadow on the other. The album as a whole is evenly porportioned with the only dominant factor being the positive message.
Here are the tracks that stood out to me so far;
Despair, The pace of the the song starts off very light. if you shove your ear piece all the way in you can faintly hear the rustling of the leaves as the light drum builds. It speeds up just a bit and reminds me if I’m running through the jungle. In the song Nas fittingly compares this present day to the likeness of the wild. In this wilderness the weapon of combat should be one’s mind.
Strong will Continue, Whatever song America is using to amp up the men and women in the military should be swapped for this one. This song gets you hyped. I could be coming up from my 2 thousandth push-up, shoulders weary, annoyed as hell from my commander screaming in my hear but once you get the beat pumping, “Only the strong will continue, Do you have it in you? Come, we’ve got a journey to go”. It gives you that re-burst, instantaneously endolphins(endorphins) swim to your brain telling it no pain, keep going. Well, It might work. Plus Nas goes in beastmode in the end, “I still matter as a rapper not doubting, even Toni Baxton signed a deal with Craig Kallman, how the hell I suppose to stay comfy, when I pay child support alimony monthly”. With fierce and intensity he tears this to recess pieces. I can only imagine what was bubbling through his mind; divorce, the current state of the rap game, frustration, in all that he stayed focus, properly putting out a album as a testimony that indeed only the strong can continue.
My Generation and Africa Must Wake Up, two flag waving songs. Flag waving in the sense this makes you proud of who you are and what you stand for. In my generation Weezy falls back from his normal self and lends a positive note, “man i gotta keep it moving to the beat of my drum, last night i see the future at the feet of my son, but they thinkn my generation have to die young, if we all come together than they can’t divide one”. In Africa must wake up Damian cries from the soul and reminds everyone of their priestly statue, “Africa must wake up, you sleeping son’s of jacob, for what tomorrow may bring may a better day come, yesterday we were kings can you tell me young one’s, who are we today?” KIngs! Queens, and all that good stuff, Yes we are royalty lets not sell ourselves short by being content in our present temporary titles as our ends. Let’s rise to the occasion of Kings and Queens.
As We Enter, These two go in like Jada and Styles, Puff and Mase, back and forth like a good ass ping pong game. “(D)Queens to Kingston, gunshots we use and govern the kingdom (N)rise of the Winston i can see the fear in your eyes realize you can die in instant (D)and i can hear the sound of your voice when you must lose your life like mice in the kitchen (N)snitching, i can see him pissing on himself and he wetting up his thighs and he trying to resist it (D)switching i can smell him digging up shit like a fly come around and keep persisting”
Patience, One of my fav’s, sampling from Amadou and Mariam’s song “Saballi”. Burn some incense the chorus gets you in to a trance like state. Damian spitting some honest flows how tricksters use even the sacred to lure the innocent, “Evangelists making a living on the videos of ribs of the little kids”. After hearing this I had to check myself on where some of my biased view’s stem from. “Put the worst on display so the world can see, And that’s all they will ever show, So the ones in the west, Will never move east, And feel like they could be at home, Dem get tricked by the beast”.
In closing cop the album twice, release date is May 18th

Do you ever sit in peace at night and just let your mind take over?
What is the most common thing that goes through your head?
What ifs…Regrets….Fears
Just as simple as the saying goes ” It is what you make it”
You often make things more complicated than it is. But what if you had the perfect chance to just let go of fear.
What would you do?
E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G
Lets just say, Life and Death was invited to a party. Who do you think will come for sure.
But when will death be late? You never know so let your fears go and live!

Who is Mr. Brainwash?
I went into the showroom with a bucket full of expectation, only to leave with the bucket still full. I research the man behind the mind control, he’s a french film maker, shadowed Banksy and filmed a documentary around one of his bombing excursions.
Truth: rolling the credits before watching this film, ruined the movie experience.
Diving right in. Reading other reviews about the exhibit I was taken by the campbell’s spray can, pepto spray can, there practical ideas!
I see myself spraying tomato soup over my grilled cheese sandwich so the surface gets an even coating of tomato, or spraying pepto in my morning coffee to keep me regular. But what’s up with the Quaker oaks, or Raisan spray containers?
THUMBS DOWN!
He was over zealous with idea and ran too far with it. The concept became visually blan after a dozen or so repetition. Onto the next one, another broken record is his broken vinyl collages.
My fav is of Sade….. Simpliest and to the point.
I also like the one he did on James Brown, this showed a lot of details and looks like he paid intricate attention to the cutting of the vinyl. A lot of his work is redundant, I feel redundant repeating this. I feel it would’ve had a heavy punch if Brainwash made one or two of each concept. In doing the audience can think of other american icon that can be showcased using the same canvas.
Standout pieces: the life size taxi cab he incase in a matchbox toy display.
Oversized paint can, with giraffe size paint brushes.
Portrait of Barak Obama in superman outfit, btw barak obama is really superman. He also answers to steel, also known as the one Shaq played aka the start and end of his acting career. I say, “Shaq, stick to playing ball”.
In this case Thierry(Brainwash) stick to making films.
Exhibit was interesting overall, but I did not give in to its hypnosis, you can say I was not brainwashed. Exhibit is worth taking a look, it has been extended to end of
April, 415 W 13th Street.

Whether your starting a new youtube channel or just want to piece together a family dvd. There are many film editing software out there, but which one do you choose!?!?
Heres a few options for you to choose from, Adobe Premiere, Pinnacle Studio, Magix, iMovie, Avid, Roxio Creator, Corel Video Studio, Powerproducer. The list goes on but my personal favorites are Sony Vegas and Final Cut Pro.
I first started using Final Cut Pro on a mac 2 years ago, there was a big learning curve but once I got over that, it was easy to do things I wanted. Then one day I saw someone use Sony Vegas and I thought it looked very similar to Final Cut so I gave it a go. Once again with the learning curve but once I did, it was just easy as Final Cut. Now, the question came to mind, Which is better and what are the advantages of the two. Heres my thoughts..
FYI, Sony Vegas is for Windows and FCP is for Mac only..
FCP Thoughts:
Lots of wizbang. You can create some really slick stuff in a hurry (after learning the program) and you get a lot of help via templates.
Motion is really cool.
You need a strong, fast, computer and hardware to make FCP get off the ground well, (can you say money).
Some task that should be quite simple are not. Vegas kicks butt in this area.
FCP is a bit closed. It does not like to play with other editing system formats.
Many times you have to do a render before you can preview.
This drives me crazy.
Vegas Thoughts:
Simple to use compared to other editing systems
including FCP. Very good preview rates when used with a
fast computer. PC’s are less expensive than Macs.
You can play a whole lot many different formats of
audio and video files from the Vegas timeline.
You can mix and match diffrent types of files and formats
on the Vegas timeline without a render step as in FCP.
Vegas has some really strong pan/crop and compositing
tools. Vegas has scripting feature which can automate
certain task for you saving much time and effort.
Simply the best audio toolset of any editing software.
Vegas 8 Pro Multicam tool is way better than FCP’s.
You can cut a project very quickly in Vegas.
Weak spot, not a lot of templates for the wizbang.
You have to learn how to create it yourself.
Overall thoughts:
Their both good programs and do the exact same things but have different layouts and slight different process but at the end of the day its a matter of preferences.
Izzy Aka N.O.I is a fellow friend and artist. Over the years, I’ve seen the hunger, the strive and work ethic. He who settles for no less than perfect has reemerge with his new project mixtape and upcoming shows.
I’ve had the opportunity to sit down with N.O.I for this brief interview.

2010 is the year for a lot of new talents. One of which is up and coming IMMYOWN clothing. IMMYOWN pronounced ” IM-MY-OWN ” is more than just a clothing brand.
Its A Lifestyle!
I was first introduced to him a mile back by his brother, EBO. The few interactions we’ve had quickly sparked my curiosity and was immediately drawn to the brand he has built and market as himself. IMMYOWN encompasses everything about him, from his choice of cocktail, the way he laces his kicks, to the way he talks. It’s his world, to each his or her own, in this case, It’s IMMYOWN.
March 18th was the first showcase from IMMYOWN , pics below from night of event.
More to come…
